Được thành lập bởi Duminda Perera, tổ chức sáng tạo tại Ý – Dumma có chuyên môn từ đầu trong thiết kế trực quan. Gần đây,tổ chức này đã tạo ra một loạt các áp phích trong đó tập hợp các “bảng màu tối giản” để đánh dấu thương hiệu mới của năm nay.

Từ năm 2011, trong thiết kế đồ họa và thiết kế website đã ưu tiên chọn các bảng màu tối giãn và thiết kế bằng phẳng làm chủ đạo, sự ra đời của Flat Design và Material Design đã đánh dấu sự thay đổi lớn trong ngành thiết kế.

Trong năm 2016, xu hướng thiết kế phẳng và tối giãn sẽ vẫn làm chủ đạo, với các thiết kế tối giãn mang lại cảm giác màu sắc và sự hài hòa trong thiết kế.

Sau đây là một số Pantone màu tối giản mà Dumma đã đưa ra.

Nếu như các tác phẩm mỹ thuật phải trải qua nhiều phong trào và thời kỳ thì thiết kế web trực quan (visual web design) cũng có nhiều xu hướng. Khác biệt duy nhất đó là chu kỳ đào thải các xu hướng thiết kế web diễn ra nhanh hơn nhiều, chỉ trong vài năm thôi chứ không kéo dài hàng thập kỷ như các tác phẩm mỹ thuật.

Những chuyên gia thiết kế web và trải nghiệm người dùng (UX) hàng đầu thế giới đã đưa ra những dự đoán mà họ cho rằng sẽ phổ biến trong năm 2016. Một trong số đó đã xuất hiện ở năm trước nhưng sức ảnh hưởng dường như chưa có dấu hiệu sụt giảm và tiếp tục là những xu hướng chính của năm nay.
